Jane began her career in corporate controllership, spending nearly ten years closing books and building reporting systems for companies where a full finance department was simply assumed to exist. Month-end was a process, forecasts were standard, and nobody made a hiring decision without a model.
What struck her, working alongside suppliers and clients in the mid-market, was how little of that discipline reached the businesses she admired most — the twelve-person manufacturer, the three-location clinic, the agency about to hire its first senior leader. These owners were making consequential decisions on gut feel, not because they wanted to, but because nobody had ever given them the numbers in time.
She founded BeanBalance in 2025 with a narrow thesis: give owner-operated businesses the same rigour, delivered by one person who actually knows the business. The practice specializes in serving clients in the professional services, trades, retail and healthcare, with a deliberate focus on companies between $300K and $20M in revenue.
